Why is it used? The anemometer is a device that measures wind speed.
The word anemometer comes from the Greek word anemos, meaning wind. It is used at weather stations nowadays. You can also see the wind direction.

Is there a scale? Wind speed is measured by using the Beaufort Wind Scale which is a scale of 0-12 based on what you can see.
