1. Simple shapes are good shapes. 2. Fewer colors & fonts will maximize effect. 3. Plainer fonts are more memorable. 4. Black & white is as good as color... Or better. 5. Highlights, gradients, & shadows are unnecessary. 6. A logo should work easily in any media. Remember that you can use your spacebar and/or your mouse to advance the slide!

Red and yellow are the only two permanent colors in Superman’s logo: RED for Superman’s planet, Krypton. YELLOW for his new home, Earth. 1934 1938 1940 1943 1944

“The Bat Man” first appeared in Comics in 1939. Today, he is just Batman. His logo has had many versions based on the same, simple form. Sometimes, it’s on a yellow background, representing moonlight or the yellow beam of a searchlight.

These are Japanese kamon or family crests. They tend towards the simple.

Rectangles can be messed with. Chopped. Rounded.

Warped versions of the rectangle. Stars come in many shapes. And there are other shapes.
