Systems & Technology Group Presentation Title | Presentation Subtitle | IBM Confidential © 2006 IBM Corporation 3 MD3000 Cons No expansion! – Supports 15 drives internally – Dell claims that 30 and 45 drives supported by connecting to MD1000 enclosure are supported soon, but not at announce of the MD3000 Only 512MB of Cache per controller! – When memory is scarce, more pages are written to disk, resulting in increased disk activity. More disk spindles will be required to off-set this lack, but MD3000 is currently limited to 15 disks! Yet another GUI for Dell’s entry-level solution! – The ‘MD Storage Manager’ is not the same application as that managing the AX150 line of entry-level enclosures from Dell Less than ideal for Exchange environments! – Best-practices for Exchange require a N+1 ‘Hot-standby’ server. However, this will never be possible with the limited number of IN ports on MD3000. Large! – 3U Active Passive Hot-standby Server (N + I)
