Fluent Export – Surface element normal issue bug fix Old Version: The actual normal is outside, but it is not the case in MSH file. You can see the white arrows, which is downwards. New version: The 2D surface normal is considered and below deck image shows the correction.

Case 2: The 2D surface normal is not in one direction, for few elements within a face it is +Ve and few elements it is –Ve. New version: Normal points properly. Old Version: You can see there is variation in the normal.

Volume Mesh error message posting updates – now we show the identified issue faces/bodies so that user can skip/fix them and continue volume mesh. The following slides explains the main errors and how to handle them. 20 LJKVolume mesh create error is not clear.

Case 1 (a): If there are any quad faces with no pyramid elements, it will add those faces to the selection. You can reverse hide and create pyramid elements for those faces and continue with the volume mesh. It will add the issue faces to the selection, you can reverse hide and look for those faces.

Case 1 (b): Suppose if the quad faces belongs to the outer region, you can skip those bodies and continue volume mesh. It will add the issue faces to the selection, you can reverse hide and look for the bodies and skip them.

Case 2: If there are no duplicate 2D surfaces for the solid body, it will identify those faces and add them to selection, you can create duplicate 2D bodies for them and continue volume mesh. The issues faces are added to the selection, you can reverse hide and create duplicate 2D surfaces.

Case 3: If external existing volume mesh bodies are given as input, those bodies will be identified and added to selection, you can hide those bodies and do volume mesh on the remaining bodies. Note: 1.Later we will automatically take care of this error internally by skipping these bodies. For now you can hide and do volume mesh again with the remaining bodies. 2.Previously LIU gave me couple of models (ftp://ftp.altair.com.cn/pub/incoming/for_lijun/From%20Jiangkun/0317/), for which it was difficult to mesh. Now it will automatically identify the bodies, you can hide and continue mesh with the remaining bodies. Some times it might take few iterations to skip all the bodies. I have tested with these models, I could able to mesh. (There are some element intersection in above mentioned model, you need to resolve them before volume mesh).ftp://ftp.altair.com.cn/pub/incoming/for_lijun/From%20Jiangkun/0317/ 22 LJK Old issue: if has existing volume mesh connect external surface, would create new volume mesh.
