2 A symbiotic relationship is 2 organisms living in a close area together Commensalism, mutualism, and parasitism fit under the “umbrella” of symbiotic relationships Symbiotic Relationship

3 Definition:Example: Your neighbors dog, Mindy, always comes over to your house to eat your dog, Snow’s food. Mindy will get benefited by being fed but Snow will not get benefited in any way, shape, or form. One species benefits; the other is not bothered Commensalism: Mindy Snow

4 Definition:Example: When a human owns a cat, they are both being benefited. The cat benefits the human by making it happy, and the human benefits the cat by giving it food and shelter. Both species benefit Mutualism:

5 Definition:Example: The Burdock plant has to disperse its seeds by making them sticky. Animals walk by and the seeds stick onto them. The plant is benefited because it was able to disperse its seeds but the animals were harmed because they got the sticky seeds stuck onto them. They are not able to get them off except by taking them off or waiting until they fall off. One species benefits; the other is harmed Parasitism:
