How does it generate electricity? the photoelectric effect refers to the release of electrons from the surface of metals in response to light this means the energy contained within the light is absorbed by electrons that are in the metal, giving the electrons energy to be emitted from the surface of the metals the energy from the electrons is what causes the electricity

Common Uses of This Source The main uses of photoelectric energy are: Solar panels Batteries (in calculators) Outdoor lights Flashlights

Advantages it’s environmentally friendly can save money in the long run can last longer than battery power lower maintenance

Disadvantages less efficient in cloudy days can be expensive to buy and install pollution can ruin parts in solar panels can cause power outages if the electrons get too much light
