4. Objectives All students will be able to safely set up and light a Bunsen burner. All students will safely heat solids in the Bunsen flame. Some students will heat liquids in the Bunsen flame.

5. How do you set up a Bunsen Burner?

6. How do you light a Bunsen Burner? Wear goggles. Get a safety mat and put it near a gas tap, away from the edge. Put the Bunsen Burner in the centre of the mat. Put the gas tube on the gas tap. Make sure that the air hole is closed. Light a splint. Turn on the gas tap. Wave the splint over the chimney.
