CLASS : V TOPIC : PERIMETER Time required : 6-8 periods
2
Learning Objective : To find the Perimeter of a Square – Rectangle – Triangle -
3
Teaching Learning Materials Used Lollipop Sticks- Thread – Paper squares - Square ruled sheets-
4
Mathematical Vocabulary & Symbols Closed figure, Open figure, Plane figure, Side, Edge, Boundary, Length,Total, Sum, Perimeter Units of length - cm, m, mm, km Symbol Used : +
5
Concept : Perimeter Perimeter is the length of the boundary of a plane figure. Perimeter is the distance around the outside edge of a plane figure. To find the Perimeter, we add the length of all sides of a plane figure.
6
Pupil Activity-1 Building with sticks Triangles - Rectangles - Squares -
7
Pupil Activity-2 Finding the total length of the sticks and giving the perimeter of the figures formed by them. 4 cm 2 cm
8
1 cm Perimeter = (1+1+1+1)cm = 4cm Pupil Activity -3 Finding the Perimeter of the figure on a square sheet.
9
Pupil Activity -4 Finding the Perimeter of the figure on a square sheet. Perimeter =(4+4+4+4)cm = 16cm 4 cm
10
Pupil Activity -5 FIND THE PERIMETER OF THIS TRIANGLE USING A THREAD AND A MEASURING SCALE
11
EVALUATION (HOME WORK)
12
FIND THE PERIMETER OF THIS SURFACE IF ONE SIDE OF A SQUARE IS EQUAL TO 1 cm. HINT : COUNT THE NUMBER OF SIDES. Perimeter = ________ cm
13
FIND THE PERIMETER OF THIS SURFACE IF ONE SIDE OF A SQUARE IS EQUAL TO 1 foot. HINT : COUNT THE NUMBER OF SIDES. Perimeter = ________ feet
14
EVALUATION (PROJECT)
