4. B. Two Parts of Photosynthesis 1.Light Dependent Reactions- Convert light energy to chemical energy through an electron transport chain 2. Light Independent Reactions- Use the chemical energy to make glucose in the Calvin Cycle

5. III. Light Dependent Reactions A. Chlorophyll in the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplast trap the energy from sunlight.

6. B. The energy from the sun is passed to an electron. It becomes excited and travels through an electron transport chain.

7. C. At the end of the chain, the excited electron is given to a molecule called NADP+. D. The NADP+ takes the excited electron, and 2 hydrogens from water, becoming NADPH.

8. E. ATP is created, and oxygen is released. F. The ATP and NADPH are passed to the next phase in photosynthesis.
