2 HOT ROC Image analysis: Read p. 369 and then compare the images on page 368 and 369. How do these 2 images capture the differences and division between traditionalism and modernism?

3 The Growing Divide Urban Attractions: – Factory & Office jobs – Higher wages – Diversity – Entertainment Rural Problems: – demands for U.S. farm products drops after WWI – Selling less stuff = lower income

4 Changing Values Traditionalists – Generally lived in small-towns – Increased religious fundamentalism Modernists – Excited by city life and earning good wages in the cities – Exposed to new ideas, music, and social values The Divide – Traditionalists feel attacked by modernists – Modernists view traditionalists as backwards

Read 29.3, 29.4, 29.5 (pg. 372- 377) For each section write down the arguments for YOUR SIDE in a t-chart with bullet points. Include specific facts and details to help your argument. You will jigsaw with your partner and record the other side
