BABIES
2
PONIJAO Executes lack of proper hygiene like toilet training which is against Erikson’s Psychosocial Stage 2, Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt. His microsystem is composed of his family and their neighbors. For his macrosystem, we have observed that they lack in natural resources and in their culture, it is okay for a woman to breastfeed another baby which is not of her own. This is based from Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory.
3
There was a scene where Ponijao interacted with a dog. This is covered by the Oral stage of Freud’s Psychosexual Theory. He seeks pleasure through his mouth and therefore kissed the dog. Ponijao also possesses the “oedipal complex” wherein he is more close to his mother. This is based from the Phallic stage of Freud’s Psychosexual Theory. He has dark complexion. Ponijao inherited this characteristic from his parents. This is covered by the principle of heredity.
4
BAYAR The child’s family and the animals that they take care of are the immediate environment of him. This is under the level one of the Ecological Systems Theory by Bronfenbrenner which is called the microsystem. According to Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory, the development of trust is based on the dependability of the child’s caregivers. The parents of Bayar are unable to provide him this because they are always outside and Bayar is left at home.
5
Bayar also imitates his brother’s behavior. Whenever his brother will cry, he will cry too. This is related to Bandura’s social-cognitive theory wherein Bayar pays attention to what his brother does and repeat his actions. Also executes lack of proper toilet training which is against Erikson’s Psychosocial Stage 2. Skin complexion is white, most likely because his parents are white too. This is under the principle of heredity wherein a child acquires the characteristic of his parents.

MARI During the first part, her father was shaking a rattle infront of her. This explains one the sub-stages of the sensorimotor stage of Piaget’s Cognitive Development Theory. Mari used her reflexes such as looking. Her mom used breastfeeding to nourish her. This is under Freud’s Psychosexual Theory wherein an infant gets pleasure from sucking and oral satisfaction.
7
Unlike the other children in the documentary, her microsystem is composed her parents, her teacher and other babies. This covers the first level of Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory. According to Bruner’s first stage of Cognitive Development, showing and modeling have more learning value than telling. This can be seen during Mari’s stay in a nursery school wherein the children imitate the teacher’s actions. She looks like her mom which is because of the concept of heredity. She was able to acquire her mom’s physical appearance.
8
HATTIE Her parents provide her with healthy foods such as milk and fruits. This can be considered as under the Oral stage of Psychosexual Theory wherein she finds pleasure in sucking and oral satisfaction. Hattie’s microsystem is composed of her parents and her playmates at the playground.
9
She was taught of proper toilet training and is successful over the Anal stage of Freud’s Psychosexual Theory. She looks exactly like her parents – white skin complexion, blonde hair and blue eyes. It shows the principle of heredity. Biological attributes are passed by her parents to Hattie.
