3 Goal! Identify what makes up culture. Unit Question: What makes up the components of culture? How does culture impact you?

4 Introducing ourselves to new cultures Do not talk to one another unless indicated by your card. Move around and introduce yourself to at least 3 people. 5 minutes. Quick Write: How did you feel introducing yourself in a different culture? Did anything make you feel uncomfortable? Why or why not?

6 Cultural Questionnaire: True or False If you were a member of an Amazon Indian Tribe you would want your relatives to be eaten by the rest of the tribe after they died.

9 Goal! Identify what makes up culture. Unit Question: What makes up the components of culture?

10 What is culture? Culture is shared products of human groups. Products include both physical objects, and beliefs. Material Culture: Are physical objects that people create and use. Ex. Books, Cars etc. Non-Material Culture: Abstract human creations, such as beliefs, and ideas.

11 In table groups Read pages 24- 26 and identify the 5 components of culture. Include an example of that part of culture. (You have 10 min.)

12 Now we will go to… Ghana!

13 Learn a little more about Ghana! As your reading about Ghana: Identify: Technology, Symbols, Language, Values, and Norms of Ghana by highlighting or underling in different colors.

14 Create a fact sheet like the one on Ghana but for… The U.S, Charlotte N.C, Biotech, or your family. On the fact sheet you should include an example of all 5 components of the culture.
