COMMON ERRORS IN QUOTE ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT
2
What are the problems here? In the book “Night,” Elie Wiesel was in Buna concentration camp on Yom kippur, the most holy holiday of the jewish year.
3
Remember the Rules: Titles of big things like books or Newspapers should be underlined or typed using italics. Titles of little things like an article, poem, or a section of larger document should be written “in quotes.” Proper nouns get capitalized. This includes religions and names of holidays.
4
Clarity and Crispness What does that mean? Think of a potato vs. an apple. It’s hard to get your writing to be crisp, but it’s something you should work on.
5
Here are some examples that lack crispness… His father telling him to eat caused him to feel bad inside and feeling the way he did. Him feeling bad cause him to feel sick and a void opening. Elie was part of the holocaust in one of their camps in Auschwitz.
6

7
What’s the difference between “explain” and “analyze” Explain: Analyze:
8
Loose pronouns In the book Night, Elie says, “I hated that bell,” after they were separated. Elie and his father had a difficult choice to make and he wasn’t sure what to do.
9
And now, some beautiful crisp writing from your classmates: If the only one you can trust is the enemy, how can you call that trust? He no longer trusted God, for God committed crimes of omission as the Jews were sent to camps and to their deaths
