1
INSOLATION Incoming Solar Radiation Portion of sun’s output of electromagnetic radiation that is received by earth.
2
Rays of the sun, Sunlight, Light, Hatpit, Liwanag
3
Light – 44% Infrared (heat) – 48% Ultraviolet – 7%
4
Factors Affecting Absorption and Reflection Of Insolation 1. Angle incidence The higher the angle of incidence, more insolation is absorbed, the hotter it is.
5
2. Latitude Factor The higher the latitude, the lower the angle, less energy is absorbed.
6
3. Time Of the Day The higher the sun in the sky, the higher the angle of incidence, the hotter it is.
7
4. Seasonal Factor Summer, Winter, Fall and Spring
8
5. Surface Characteristics Darker Color and coarse texture – absorb more heat. Lighter color and smooth – reflects more heat.
9
6. Atmosphere Factor Reflection Scattering Absorption condensation Radiation
