12.  Definition – the audience knows something that the character does not  Example  Monster lurking behind a door in a movie

13.  Definition - an event occurs which directly contradicts the expectations of the characters and the audience  Everyone is surprised.  Example  In “A Christmas Carol” Scrooge ends up loving Christmas I hate people who hate Christmas!
