7 Conclusions The technical space allocated to DT occupy a total area of about 10000 m 2 of laboratories, assembly halls, workshops and storage places dispersed in more than 20 different buildings The group is engaged in a dozen of detector projects, operates 10 services open to all CERN users and is involved in R&D projects on new technologies and infrastructures Future engagements (LHC detector upgrades, LCD, etc) are now being considered and the space required in future years will remain at the current level The current disperse location and installations of the DT group makes it difficult to create a coherent team, duplicates efforts and equipment; there is large potential in creating a well defined “home base” for the DT activities in the future, combining it with renewing ageing and obsolete technical installations
