2 Mission facts. Space mission “Solar Sail” is intended for investigating of possibilities of control and the dynamics of the spacecraft subjected to solar light. It had light thin-film large-area (600 m2) panels (Sails). Was launched on June 21, 2005. Unfortunately, the first stage of the Volna rocket didn’t complete its scheduled burn, and the spacecraft did not enter orbit.
