The Most Dangerous thing in the world is…ideas! The Modern world was shaped by ‘progressive ideas’ such as Darwinism. How many other ideas could you list?

Capitalism: An economic system that relies on private ownership of industry and means of production. Emphasis is on private individuals and entrepreneurs. Socialism: Government controls the allocation and distribution of resources and wealth. Means of production are under control of the state.

Ideas People Construct a table that identifies the major ideas that developed in this period, and the main people or events that helped develop them. Today: Capitalism, Socialism, Egalitarianism, Nationalism. Use Pages 13-15 as a guide. Major Idea (Name and brief description).People and Events that helped develop them.

The American French Revolution In small groups (2-3 people each) research the American War of Independence and French Revolution and discuss how they helped shape the modern world. American/French RevolutionDetails When it happened. Causes of the revolution (2-3). Notable events (3-4) Key outcomes of the revolution (short term). Key outcomes of the revolution (long term).

The Industrial Revolution Create a flow chart or similar diagram that shows the way that the Industrial Revolution, movement of peoples and progressive ideas were all linked in this period.
