Outlawed sale and possession of alcohol. Many thought the act would deter domestic abuse. Many opposed the act and therefore smuggled alcohol with ease, rendering the act useless. Much propaganda was put out against alcohol.

Former slave who fought for women's right and abolition of slavery. She was in the antislavery movement during the 1830s. She took the name because she said, “the lord gave me [the name] Sojourner because I traveled up and down the land showing the people their sins and being a sign to them. She was a key role during the antislavery movement by teaching the south the word of god throughout the land.

Elizabeth Stanton spoke for women's rights and suffrage in the 1840’s and was one the main supporters of the Seneca Falls Convention and the Declaration of Women’s Sentiments. She was important in paving the way to women’s equality.
