Once Lenin died there was a power struggle over who should control the party.

17. Hitler’s Germany Hitler was known for being anticommunist, as well an admirer of Mussolini Hitler will use the failing German economy to rise to power. Leads to the formation of the NAZI party, who believed in an anti communist agenda and believed that Germany should expand its territory

22. Japan and Manchuria Japan was not making enough money off its exports to cover its imports. As other countries began to suffer they increased fur thing Japan’s economic downfall. Japan’s military blamed corrupt politicians for their downfall. The military believed the best way to improve Japan’s economy was to invade Manchuria

23. The Neutrality act Under the Neutrality act made it illegal to sell arms to any country at war. It was the hope that this action would keep the United States out of any foreign war.

33. Hitler and Poland Hitler announces that he wants control of Danzig, which is a primarily German city. Problem: Danzig is part of Poland Britain and France decide they can no longer let Germany have all of its demands. France and Britain back Poland Hitler begins making deals with Russia

34. Nazi Soviet Pact Hitler turns to Russia to make a peace deal hoping he will not have to fight them along with Britain and France. The two countries sign a non aggression agreement, and secretly decide to split Poland When Germany takes Poland they will not honor the agreement.

35. The loss of Poland France By 1939 Germany had begun its invasion of Poland. Poland could not resist for long due to its out dated technology and tactics. The Germans would use a new tactic Blitzkrieg: “Lightening war” The technique used takes planes and paratroops to break lines and stop supplies Germany would use this same idea after out maneuvering France.

Cuba revokes the certificates, which leaves the ship full of Jewish refugees to sail between Cuba and Florida. Being revoked by both areas the St. Louis is forced to return to Europe where the Jews will be left in occupied countries
