Newton’s Second Law Speed Velocity Acceleration Distance traveled in a given amount of time – km/ h The speed of an object in a particular direction – Must include a label with velocity, km/h north The rate at which velocity changes over time

Newton’s Second Law Definition The acceleration of an object depends on the mass of the object and the amount of force applied – F = M x A – F = Force, M = Mass, A = Acceleration We convert the formula to A = F / M for ease of use

Acceleration Depends on Mass The acceleration of an object decreases as its mass increases The acceleration of an object increases and its mass decreases

Acceleration Depends on Force An object’s acceleration increases as the force on the object increases The object’s acceleration decreases as the force on the object decreases.
