2 Best of the best practices - Backward design: Start by clearly outlining learning objectives from the outset, then build material tailored to those objectives. Also making use of and tools from the K-12 community -Consider all available new tools/technologies, and instructional methods. The best practice may be a combination of several practices/methods, or instruction in the use of a certain new technology (mix of instructional strategies) Implementing and disseminating changes/new practices -Revisit often how/what expectations and standards are laid out for faculty/instructors -Encourage nstructors to come together and meet often, to agree on methods for teaching and evaluating critical thinking, etc., engage 2YCs, an collaborate with K- 12 researchers

3 Evaluation and assessment strategies - When new technologies are available or new skills are to be taught in a class, clear standards for evaluating students’ proficiency need to be established. Use of presentation tools and writing and communication (use pen and paper ) are effective (so it’s not just plug and chug) -What are employers looking for? Reach out to job recruiters and alumni frequently to reassess what skills need to be taught, and where new graduates’ weaknesses are. -Learning from educational researchers, geocognition labs and collaborating with specialists Sustaining and growing innovative practices/collective impact Re-thinking/revising digital databases, online resource sharing and delivery
