3 Col-CC Responsibility Col-CC is responsible for operations of the Columbus system Col-CC is responsible for coordinating payload operations within Columbus Col-CC is responsible for Columbus module safety European Payload Operations Team (POT) and USOCs (User Support Operations Centers) are responsible for operating European payloads in Columbus under responsibility of Columbus FD Col-CC is responsible to ensure element-wide non-interference of operations Col-CC is responsible for all Columbus related onboard products Col-CC is responsible vis-à-vis NASA for all Columbus operations matters

5 Columbus Flight Director Responsibilities: –Supervise and lead operations for the Columbus module –Approval of all operations decisions and commitments with respect to the Columbus system and payload issues for US and European payload in Columbus –MCC-H and Col-FD will notify each other of Columbus System or ISS anomalies affecting the other’s operations and will coordinate the impact –Col-FD and POD will notify each other of Columbus System or US payload anomalies affecting the other’s operations and will coordinate the impact –Approval of all products Primary Interfaces: MCC-H Flight Director, POIC POD Shift: 1E 24x7, otherwise 16x7

6 Columbus Operations Coordinator Responsibilities: –Coordinates the payload operations involved in the Columbus element –Monitors system to payload interface –Monitors payload operations in Columbus to ensure execution within planned resources, Flight Rules and Payload Regulations –Provides point of contact to all payloads located in Columbus(European and US) –Responsible for coordinating SODF and PODF procedure changes with CES, POT, POIC –Coordinate with MCC-H for uplink of procedure files –Coordinates the verification of new SODF and PODF procedures Primary Interfaces: POIC OC, POT Shift: 1E 24x7, otherwise 16x7

7 Columbus Systems Engineer Responsibilities: –Monitors & controls the following Columbus subsystems Electrical Power Distribution System Environmental Control Life Support System Thermal Control Subsystem Mechanical Structure and Mechanisms –Management of resources –Coordination and discussions applicable to the ISS on-board power, heating, and lighting issues, ISS Thermal Control System and ISS ECLSS –Real-time coordination and resolution of Columbus system-payload interface anomalies Primary Interfaces: MCC-H ECLS, PHALCON, THOR Shift: 1E 24x7, otherwise 16x7

8 Columbus DMS Engineer Responsibilities: –Monitors & controls the Columbus Data Management System (DMS) including hardware and HRM –Monitoring the performance of Columbus software, including execution of Master Timeline –Management on-board software management, including uplink and on- board loading/exchange of software modules and data files –Coordination of payload MDM and Columbus DMS interface for Columbus payload-related telemetry data flow (via lateral transfer) –Coordination of dump operations and coordination of dump file distribution to POT or CES Primary Interfaces: MCC-H ODIN & CATO Shift: 1E 24x7, otherwise 16x7

9 Columbus Communications Officer Responsibilities: –Monitors & controls the Columbus VDPU, HRM and communications equipment –Provides Columbus end-to-end communications oversight –Ensure that on-board communications reconfigurations are implemented in accordance with the planned timelines –Coordination of on-board Ku-Band communications equipment configuration and problem resolution –Coordination of changes to the Data Flow Plan and Columbus Data Management Plan –Coordinates Columbus VDPU configuration in support of US payloads in Columbus and USOS VSU in support of European payload video downlink –Keeps POT aware of real-time and HCOR playbacks including any modification due to AOS/LOS changes and problems Primary Interfaces: MCC-H CATO, POIC DMC & PHANTOM Shift: 1E 24x7, otherwise 16x7

10 Columbus Ops Planner Responsibilities: –Coordinates the ESA Planning team in support to real-time operations –Acts as point of contact to partner control centre equivalent positions for near term re-planning activities –Coordination for consumables with POT and partner control centers –Coordination of real-time change requests and preparation of daily replanning –Follows the execution and changes of the daily activities –Supports daily DPCs Primary Interfaces: MCC-H Opsplan, POIC TCO Shift: 1E 24x7, otherwise 16x7

11 Columbus Crew Interface Coordinator Responsibilities: –Responsible to the Col-FD for supporting crew operations with respect to both systems and payload operations –Serving as an interface to the flight crew for crew procedures, stowage and inventory monitoring –Coordinating the use of the S/G voice communications, when allocated to Europeans –Point of contact for Columbus S/G voice communications –Monitors crew activities within Columbus –Supports on-board training Primary Interfaces: ISS crew, MCC-H Capcom, POIC Paycom Shift: 1E 24x7

12 Columbus Ground Controller Responsibilities: –Monitors & Controls the Ground Segment in support of Columbus flight and ATV flight operations –Initiating and monitoring communications network restoration activities in responds to ground segment problems –Coordination for administration voice configurations, network troubleshooting and fault isolation –Coordination for IGS data rate changes and operations of IGS network and its interfaces to other involved centres –Provides point of contact for the ground controllers of the other involved centres Primary Interfaces: MCC-H GC, POIC GC Shift: 1E 24x7, otherwise 16x7

13 Columbus Engineering Support Responsibilities: –Supports MCC-H Inventory Management for Columbus –Coordination with the MER Manager of joint issues and problem requiring engineering analysis or assessment that affect the Columbus element –Coordination of off-line analysis and resolution of anomalies within the Columbus element including system to payload interface –Providing updates to SODFs Primary Interfaces: MCC-H MER Shift: 1E 24x7, otherwise 8x5
