Percents to Fractions and Decimals Review from Last Week -A percent is always a number out of 100. 40% is equal to 40 out of 100 -Change a percent to a fraction by putting it over 100 and then simplifying. 40% = 40 = 2 100 5 -Change a percent to a decimal by placing the imaginary decimal at the end of the number and then moving it two places to the left. 40% = 0.40

Decimals to Percents If you have the decimal 0.78 you can make it a percent by moving the decimal TWO places to the RIGHT. Example: 0.78 = 78% 0.80 = 80% REMEMBER: D P Dr. Pepper

Fractions to Percents First write an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100. Example:7 = ___ The new numerator is the percent!!! 20 100 **This only works if the original denominator is a factor of 100. _________________________________________________________ If the denominator is not a factor of 100 do the following: Step 1 : Change the fraction to a decimal Step 2 : Change the new decimal to a percent by moving the decimal 2 places to the right. Example: 5 = 8 5 = ______% 8
