1. CAN YOU BE PERSUASIVE IN NEWSPAPER ARTICLES? Do Now! How can we use persuasive appeals in our articles for the Baxter Newspaper?

2. OBJECTIVE:  We will identify persuasive appeals in online newspaper articles and determine how they persuade the readers.  Standard: Writing 9-10.2 Organize complex ideas, concepts and information to make important connections and distinctions; including formatting graphics, and multimedia when useful to aiding comprehension.

3. SEARCH…  Use your research skills that we have been practicing and locate three different newspaper articles on LA TIMES or NEW YOUR TIMES that are persuasive articles.

4. YOUR TURN!  When you locate an article, explain the following in your notes: What is the article title? What are 5 words that describe the article? What appeal is being used?(Ethos, pathos or logos) Explain in four sentences how that appeal is used in the article(prove it!)

5. HOMEWORK:  Finish these notes!!! (All three)  Find three persuasive appeals in an advertisement or article and journal about them as you did in class today. Due Wednesday.  Examples- Billboard, Magazine article, Facebook post, coupon…
