Jeff Buckley was born on November 17th, 1966 and died May 29, 1997. Jeff Buckley wrote his first song at the age of 13. His songs explores complex themes of love, inner strife, and separation. His lyrics are sharply-focused, whilst revealing simple truths about the human psyche. He was primarily a solo artist...until ‘Grace’. Background Information

Jeff Buckley grew up singing in the car with his mother, a classically-trained pianist and cellist. At the age of five, he discovered his grandmother's guitar and began to teach himself to play. He was therefore a musician who loved to explore sound and somebody who was not afraid to experiment with different techniques. You can really hear this in the song if you listen to the vocal and guitar expressions. Musical Roots...
6
"The experience of creating and performing with a band was different from my solo work,” What does Jeff Buckley say about the recording of GRACE?...
7
"All the spontaneity and attention to the dynamics of the moment is extended four times and maybe beyond”. He believed therefore that you could put greater emotion and tension into music by extending the number of musicians playing. He was experimenting with this idea in the album ‘Grace’.
8
You can reach a trance-like stage where what's really going on inside the human psyche is being sung to...the music aims at what's really going on underneath...not what people pretend to be or what they hope they can buy at a store.

Lyrics There's the moon asking to stay Long enough for the clouds to fly me away Though it's my time coming, I'm not afraid, afraid to die My fading voice sings of love, But she cries to the clicking of time, Of time Wait in the fire... And she weeps on my arm Walking to the bright lights in sorrow Oh drink a bit of wine we both might go tomorrow, oh my love And the rain is falling and I believe My time has come It reminds me of the pain I might leave Leave behind Wait in the fire... It reminds me of the pain I might leave leave behind... And I feel them drown my name So easy to know and forget with this kiss But I'm not afraid to go but it goes so slow Wait in the fire...
