EGI SEE Workshop, Athens2 TR-Grid National Grid Initiative TUBITAK ULAKBIM is leading and coordinating the activities of independent research communities in high performance computing towards a Turkish Grid. TR-Grid initiative was established in 2003 with the collaboration of Boğaziçi, Bilkent and İstanbul Technical universities. Main aims of the initiative are: to give the information to the national user community about high performance computing, grid infrastructure and international grid projects to improve national aplications to build up the national grid infrastructure to take place the international grid projects actively to expand the high performance computing resources with collaboration of academic and commertial participants.

3. EGI SEE Workshop, Athens3 TR-Grid National Grid Initiative Currently, TR-Grid members legally undertake responsibilities with national and international grid project contracts. Grid projects in Turkey have been a triggering factor in the improvement of UlakNet (STM-4 Geant Connectivity, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to universities). With the start of the SEE-GRID Project our efforts changed to form an advanced national infrastructure that will support both national and international research.

4. EGI SEE Workshop, Athens4 TR-Grid eInfrastructure Project Our major project to form a National eInfrastructure has been accepted by Scientific Council of TUBITAK. This infrastructure will become operational on the second half of 2006. Objective: To build an eInfrastructure that is distributed among universities which will give computational resources to researchers in all country. To make this huge computing power a part of International Grid projects. To extend this infrastructure nationwide Budget: 500.000 € Planned Infrastructure: Over 500 CPUs, 50 Tbyte storage 7 partners from 5 cities New and upgraded connectivity for all members of the project

5. EGI SEE Workshop, Athens5 TR-Grid CA Since accredited in 5th EUGridPMA Meeting in September 2005 TR-Grid CA has been operating and providing certification services of TR-Grid. So far 21 host, 1 service and 38 user certificates have been issued by TR-Grid CA. In order to arise grid security awareness among users related wiki pages are present in native language. TR-Grid CA is the third EUGridPMA accredited certification authority among SEE- Grid project partners.

7. EGI SEE Workshop, Athens7 TR-Grid National Grid Workshop First workshop for grid computing was held in September 2005. It was a two day event with attendance from 76 people from all around the country, 11 participants from industry, 14 from government and most of them were academicians from various disciplines. The purpose in organizing this workshop was to gather potential grid users and to explain them the essence of grid computing. The evaluation of the workshop shows that this purpose has been considerably achieved.
