2 What is a Tessellation? A tessellation is a pattern of repeating shapes that leave no spaces or overlaps in it pieces. Tessellations are made by reflecting (flipping), translating (sliding) and rotating (turning) the shapes chosen.

3 Perfect Tessellations Perfect tessellations are formed from only one type of shape.

4 Semi-Regular Tessellations Semi-regular tessellations are formed when two or more shapes are used to tessellate. The tessellation is like a cycle where the same shape is surrounded by several of another shape.

5 Non regular Tessellations Non regular tessellations occur with no restrictions. Any shape can be used in any way.
