3 ½ * An equivalent fraction is a set of fractions that have the same value even though they may look different. *Fractions that are Equivalent to 1/2 are: 2⁄4 4⁄8 3⁄6

4 When adding fractions make sure that the denominators are the same! Once the denominators are the same then you add the top numbers and carry the same denominator over to the answer. 5/10 + 4/10 = 9/10

5 Once the denominators are the same then you subtract the top numbers and carry the same denominator over to the answer. 5/10 - 4/10 = 1/10 When subtracting fractions make sure that the denominators are the same!
