Godly Zeal It is a characteristic of the faithful (Tit. 2:14) It demonstrates itself in action (Jn. 2:15-17) It must be fed (Heb. 10:25; 2 Pet. 3:18) It is contagious (2 Cor. 9:2; Phil. 1:14)

Godly Zeal It must be guided and grounded in truth (Mt. 7:21-23; Lk. 6:5 [Acts 1:13]; Acts 18:24-25; Gal. 1:13-14; 4:17; Phil. 3:6) … zeal is energy + enthusiasm + enlightenment (truth) -Energy / body (Eccl. 9:10; Col. 3:23) -Enthusiasm / spirit (Psa. 42:1-2; Rom. 12:11) -Enlightenment / mind (Rom. 10:2,17)

Godly Zeal vs. Misguided Zeal Zeal in evangelism (J.W.s and Mormons) – Acts 5:42; 8:4; 20:20 Zeal in worship (Pentecostals) – John 4:24 Zeal in militancy (Muslims) – Jude 3 We condemn others for having a zeal without truth, but do we have a truth without zeal?

Phinehas the Zealous We need zeal to spread the gospel We need zeal to stand for truth We need zeal to overcome temptations We need zeal to mature and grow We need zeal to correct faults / problems (2 Cor. 7:11; Rev. 3:19)
