Adaptations  a scribe for written response items;  additional time to complete the assessment;  a separate room in which to write the assessment;  Braille or large print versions of the assessment; or, coloured overlays or coloured paper. In rare instances, students may be exempted from completing portions or all of the assessment when:  the goals have been greatly modified so that the students “are not really learning” the outcomes being assessed at the given subject grade level; and/or,  severe emotional or behavioural difficulties may cause this assessment exercise to be harmful to the student.  Your Principal, SST or GSSD’s Superintendant of Curriculum and Instruction must verify student exemptions.
