5 Sympathy expression is an expression or feeling of pity and sorrow when we know and see someone or people are unlucky or have trouble and in bad condition. Example : your friend’s grandfather is sick, it makes your friend sad. You can entertaint your friend by showing sympathy. By expressing sympathy we want to show our concern or carefulness on other people's condition.

6 Make sad people that have a trouble or in bad condition become happy. Make people know that we care with them

7 1. We express it directly to him/her orally, say something supportive. Let your friend know that you know about his/her sadness. Let your friend know that you care and want to help her/ him. 2. We also can use a letter or card by post, short message service (sms) and e-mail if he/she who got the trouble is far from us.

8 To express sympathy, we have 3 kinds situation. They are: FORMAL I’m extremely sorry to hear that. I was deeply sorry to hear. What a terrible situation for you. You have my deepest sympathy Please accept my condolences. (when someone has died)

9 Neutral I’m sorry to hear that. You must be very upset.  I know how it feels.  How terrible/awful.  What extremely bad luck.

10 Informal That’s awful. Oh dear. Poor you. What a shame.
