I can edit sentences for mistakes in punctuation. I can demonstrate comprehension of increasingly challenging texts by answering literal and interpretive questions. I can make inferences about a character based on the explicit text. I can interpret a symbol in a text.

 High tech medical machines, that were first developed for people, can be adopted for animals.  According to a newspaper in Franklin County Ohio dog names used alot in that county include Lady Bear Maggie and Brandy the dogs name used the most is Max.  Throughout history traveling traders and merchants took home new products such as tea spices and fabrics as a matter of fact thats one reason civilizations changed.

 SIFTT through the article, locating its purpose  What narrative methods that we have discussed has the writer used?

 What are your questions?  What has happened to the symbolism of the A?  What is happening to Dimmesdale? Why does he stand on the scaffold?  How do the townspeople feel about Hester?  Why does Hester feel guilty?  Do you feel any sympathy for Chillingworth? Why or why not? Does he see himself or Hester as “guilty”?  Trace the motif of forgiveness and empathy

 Finish the Act 1 reading guide  In small groups, make inferences about the assigned characters.

 Expanding a moment in a narrative can create suspense and imagery. It can also reveal character.  Follow the examples of Michael Gomez and Nathaniel Hawthorne in chapter 12, when Dimmesdale stands on the scaffold, and expand a moment in a narrative. Describe a small moment in minute details. What effect do you hope to achieve? Once you have decided that, go on to expand your moment. Taking a drink of water/gatorade Eating your favorite meal/candy Waking in the morning after a restful night’s sleep An memorable “game” moment
