2 Kinds of Jobs Economist categorize jobs in SECTORS Economist categorize jobs in SECTORS The four main sectors are Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Quaternary. 3 Kinds of Jobs Secondary – This involves mostly construction or manufacturing. For example Building homes, packaging foods, carpentry, Office tower & bridges, Clothing, furniture In manufacturing raw materials harvested in the primary sector are used to make useful products.

4 Kinds of Jobs Tertiary – People in this sector provide services to others. For example doctors, government, bar tenders, entertainers, bus driver, mail person, IT repair, teachers, utilities (N.S. power, water, oil, natural gas/propane Quaternary – This sector deals with working with ideas and information. Some types of jobs would be: programming, medical research, science research (geologist, engineer), Physics, reporters, accountant, systems analyst, computer operator (tech repair), cosmetics research.

7 The Global View Global trade can affect politics because different countries policies may differ on issues but they may not say anything to each other to keep trade happening. 8 Forecasting the Future Forecast - This means to analyze information to see what things will be like in the future. For example forecast the weather, economic future.

9 Forecasting the Future Social Trends – Important ideas in society that start to shape the ways people do things. For example: In the early 1900’s people started making and using cars. In the 1950’s products such as T.V.’s, pop music/culture, washing machines became popular. In present time things such as fashion, technology, fast food/what we eat, global warming/environmental issues, alternative fuels, terrorism (security, bunkers, weapons, military, policing, boarder security), elderly population.

They include topics such as numbers of people in each age group, gender, single/married, where people live (rural/urban) Are statistics about the makeup of a population.
