GeoElections and Voter Focus Interoperability 14 th Annual GeoElections User Conference www.icwmaps.com Get Voters and GeoCode From GeoElections run Get Voters. GeoCode the voters to your map using any of the following in combination or independently: The RD layer from the Enlayers folder The linear network contained in the TGR1 folder The GeoPoints contained in the TGR3 folder Review the NotObj table and correct the obstacle to successfully GeoCoding in either the GeoElections or Voter Focus systems (i.e. address ranges, street names, etc.). If you made edits in Voter Focus, run Get Voters and GeoCode again. The goal is to get your voters 100% GeoCoded as a means of determining parity between the two databases.

GeoElections and Voter Focus Interoperability 14 th Annual GeoElections User Conference www.icwmaps.com Building The Block Table Define the jurisdictions for your block table using the tools in GeoElections to match the list of jurisdictions/districts contained in Voter Focus. Assign the appropriate jurisdictions to each block in your VTDBLK_1 table (i.e. Congressional/CNG, Sentate/SEN, House/HSE, County Commission/CC, School Board/SB, City/CTY, Ward/WRD, etc.) Build a map with MapMaker containing Precincts and Groups or build a Dictionary. Either task will create or update an existing table located in your Project folder called GEOPARS.tab. Open the GEPARTS.tab and match the unique combinations of Districts to a record in the Voter Focus report, “Precincts/Splits With Districts Assignments”. Edit the GRP value in the GEOPARTS.tab to match the split number in the Voter Focus report. Any record in the GEPARTS.tab with a STATUS other than “A” can be deleted. Once this is complete, build a Dictionary and import it into the Sandbox or Redistricting DB.

GeoElections and Voter Focus Interoperability 14 th Annual GeoElections User Conference www.icwmaps.com Importing The Dictionary Import a Dictionary that contains changes since the last live import into the sandbox first. The Voter Focus import utility runs a series of tests against the Dictionary as it is being processed by the import utility. Voter Focus generates two primary reports during this import process The Integrity Restart The Redisricting Report Both of these reports are deposited into the “I:\VR6Sharedbinaries\Work” folder. These two reports point to a list of changes that should be made to either the GeoElections or the Voter Focus databases. If the change was made in the GeoElections database, build a new Dictionary and import the file into the Sandbox. Repeat this process until the there are no issues reported You are now ready to import the Dictionary to your live Voter Focus database.
