1 Nervous System Axons Take information away from the cell body Dendrites Bring information to the cell body

2 Sensory (or afferent) neurons: send information from sensory receptors (e.g., in skin, eyes, nose, tongue, ears) TOWARD the central nervous system. Motor (or efferent) neurons: send information AWAY from the central nervous system to muscles or glands

3 Interneurons: send information between sensory neurons and motor neurons. Most interneurons are located in the central nervous system.

4 Central Nervous System- Consists of brain and spinal cord. (Interneurons) Peripheral Nervous System- Consists of series of nerve cells that connect the brain and spinal cord to your limbs and organs. (Sensory and Motor neurons) Divisions of the Nervous System

5 Reflex With a reflex, the signal started in your peripheral nervous system travels to your spinal cord and back to your muscles, causing you to jerk your hand or foot back quickly. This is unlike other nerve actions in which the signal travels from your sensory neurons, to your spine, to your brain, and back to your muscles.
