1 Upgrades Option Selection Audience: All Audiences. Module Scope: This process shows the upgrade selection option for entitled or paid upgrades at the point of activation.

2 © 2009 Avaya Inc. All rights reserved. Upgrading Upgrade activation can happen in the following ways: When activating an entitlement for which an upgrade is available (upgradeable entitlement). You can then choose to activate either the new version or the current version. For example, when you activate an entitlement for SuperServer version 1.0, and an upgrade is available, you can activate either version 1.0 or version 2.0. When activating an entitlement used to implement an upgrade (upgrade entitlement). You can then choose the upgrade path to apply the entitlement to. For example, upgrading from SuperServer 1.0 to SuperServer 2.0 requires that you purchase the SuperServer Upgrade. When you activate the SuperServer upgrade, you are able to change your SuperServer 1.0 entitlements to SuperServer 2.0. When upgrading activated items. For example, if you have already installed SuperServer version 1.0, you can upgrade those licenses to version 2.0. These types of upgrade activation require that you: Select the upgrade path. For example, if you are currently on SuperServer 1.0, you may be able to upgrade to either version 1.5 or version 1.7. Specify the quantity to upgrade If required, provide proof, in the form of upgrade entitlements, that you are eligible to receive the upgrade.

3 © 2009 Avaya Inc. All rights reserved. Upgrading 2 Types “PAID” and “FREE” – Scenario “PAID”: Customer does not have SS + U and receives upgrade notification to upgrade from version 2.0 to 4.0. Customer must “buy” an upgrade – Scenario “FREE”: Customer has SS + U and receives upgrade notification to upgrade from version 2.0 to 4.0. The Upgrade page displays if: – More than one upgrade path applies to the upgrade activation – You can specify the quantity to upgrade – The upgrade requires that you provide proof of eligibility for the upgrade.

Upgrading Server 1 Host ID: 12345678 12 Licenses of v 2.0 Server 1 Host ID: 12345678 12 Licenses of v 4.0 Upgrade Licenses The upgrade function supports: – Multiple upgrade paths Upgrade from V2.0 to V3.0 Upgrade from V2.0 to V4.0 – Knows what is needed to upgrade – Can be used to “Request” what is needed – Once path is selected, automatically displays LACs that match the criteria of what is needed.

One way to know if the customer has an upgrade available is to search for entitlements (Assets > View Entitlements) and see if the customer has SSU, If they do they will likely have upgrades for the products which they have SSU for:

The Assets screen should show SSU entitlements for specific products. 1.Go to Activation > View Activation Record 2.Review the Overview tab for upgradeable products.

The Assets screen should show SSU entitlements for specific products. 1.The system will return with the search results.

11 © 2009 Avaya Inc. All rights reserved. Upgrade option selection When selecting from the drop down upgrade path selection, be sure to click “select” once the desired option has been chosen. Dependent upon the upgrade selection type, additional screens may provide more upgrade options, such as quantity, etc. and any associated prerequisite considerations. 1.When applicable, the Upgrade option selection will appear after the “Register” step when activation.. 2.From the “Upgrade path selection” menu, select “Stay on the existing version” or select an upgrade version displayed. 3.Select next to specify additional upgrade specifics and/or be advised of any upgrade pre requisites.
