IDEA Allocations Current IDEA State Education Agency (SEA) Allocation formula: –States 1998 December 1 st Child Count; –Current count of children (ADM) public and private schools, and –Current count of children living in poverty –*less approximately 10% of available funds for state administration and discretionary grants/projects

IDEA Allocations For FFY12 (SFY13) appropriation $11,577,855,236 –Ohio’s Total IDEA Allocation - $ 436,958,357 –6 th largest allocation of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Department of Interior, and the 6 US Territories; –Largest allocation was California $ 1,224,661,066 –Smallest allocation was Northern Marianas $ 4,831,832

IDEA Allocations Allocation –Base $ 119,359,351 or approximately 27% of allocation –Population Allocation (85%) $221,880,784 –Poverty Allocation (15%) $39,155,433

IDEA Proposal So what if the formula was altered removing the 1998 base year and based the allocation solely on population and poverty? Assume a two year phase out of the base amount. Assuming the allocation would be still maintain a split of 85%-15%.
