Asterism Asterisms are unofficial usually smaller groups of stars within a constellation. Example: the Big Dipper is part of the Ursa Major constellation.

Circumpolar Constellations Circumpolar constellation circle either the North or South pole. They are visible to the residents of that hemisphere all year long.
