2 Media in Sydney is internationally influential, with most Australian media companies and all major television networks headquarterd in Sydney. Sydney is often referred to as Australia's "media capital" since it completely dominates the media market in Australia. The book publishing industry in Sydney is also very large. Also, many of Australia's broadcasting companies have head offices in Sydney. Sydney is also home to Australia's film industry, with major production companies based in and around the Sydney CBD. Fox Studios Australia is located in Sydney, in the inner city suburb of Moore Park.

3 Television broadcasting in Australia began on the 16 September 1956 in black and white in Sydney, and has since expanded to include a broad range of public, commercial, community, subscription, narrowcast and amateur stations across the country. Colour television was introduced in 1975, while subscription television, on the Galaxy platform, began in the mid 1990s. 7 National Indigenous Television National Indigenous Television, funded by the Commonwealth of Australia, is produced in Sydney and broadcast via Imparja Television's existing satellite capacity.
