Main job is to enforce the laws Leader of the Executive Branch is the President Executive Branch consists of many departments that run the government.

President Qualifications of the President –35 years old –Natural born citizen of the U.S. –Lived in the United States for 14 years –4 year term, can only be elected twice

President Many different roles that must be filled Chief Executive –Head of the Executive Branch –All Departments have to get his approval –Executive orders –Appoint Executive Branch officials

President Commander in Chief –Leader of the armed forces –May send troops without congress approval Chief Diplomat –Leader in foreign policy –Treaties and executive agreements

President Legislative Leader –Influences what laws are made –Sets policy –Approve of laws Judicial Powers –Chooses Supreme Court justices –Reduce punishment or grant pardons

President Other roles –Roles not mentioned in the constitution Party Leader –Head of their respective political party Chief of State –Representative of our country –Ceremonial duties
