A Quick Tour Of Colorado Ozone Denver- The Summer of 2003 Denver Trends – Ozone – NOx Other Colorado Perspectives – Rocky Mountain National Park – Air Force Academy – Southwest Colorado
2
The Summer of 2003 Two days measured the highest one hour levels since 1986- 0.153 and 0.141 ppm- still attainment for 1-hour Ten days have exceeded.084 ppm level- – 33 “site violation days” compared to 14 last summer and 34 in 1998- typical year is less than 5. One site is technically in violation of the standard, two more only 1 ppb from violating Early Action Compact will head off N/A designation if milestones are met Not the first summer to be over the standard

Conclusions Denver’s current summer levels have some unique signatures but, given the 1998 levels, we have been here before The complex interactions of NOx and Ozone are not well understood but increased nitrate and NO levels beg for further analysis Developing a more comprehensive statewide picture is important, especially as this relates to RH
