Proper Hand Position 1.) Place heel of 1 hand on victim’s sternum at the center of chest 2.) Place other hand on top of first hand 3.) Use heel of hand to apply pressure to sternum. Try to keep fingers off of the chest

When to stop CPR The scene becomes unsafe The victim shows signs of life An AED becomes available and is ready to use Another trained rescuer arrives and takes over You are too exhausted to continue

Unconscious Choking—Adult The most common cause of obstruction in an unconscious person is the tongue. The care for an unconscious choking adult is very similar to the skill of adult CPR.

Unconscious Choking- Adult Chest compressions are used to help force air from the victim’s lungs to dislodge a foreign object.

Steps of CPR Check the scene and victim (Are you ok?) Call 911 Lift Chin and listen for 10 seconds 30 compressions 2 Breaths Repeat for 2 minutes, then check for breathing again.
