Trafalgar Square Trafalgar Square is the main square of London. In the centre of the square there is a big monument. At the top of the column there is a statue of Admiral Nelson who defeated the French at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace is the best known royal palace in the world. It was built in 1703. When Her Majesty the Queen is in the residence, the Royal Standard flutters over the east front. The palace is open to public in August and September.

English Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926 in April. She has been the Queen of the UK since 1952.

The Tower of London The Tower is very old. It has a long and cruel history. The Tower of London was a fortress, a royal palace and later a prison. It is a museum now. There are a lot of interesting collections in the Tower of London.

Piccadilly Piccadilly is the centre of entertainment. It is the meeting point of six streets. Here you can find the most expensive shops, restaurants and entertainment places. This centre was created in 1980s.

Westminster Abbey Westminster Abbey is a symbol of England. The coronation of all British Kings and Queens takes place in Westminster Abbey. Some famous English people are also buried here.

Tower Bridge This is Tower Bridge, built in 1894.It is one of the famous bridges across the Thames. It opens and ships go up and down the River Thames.

Houses of Parliament It is the Houses of Parliament, the seat of the British Government. It has two Houses: the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The famous clock Big Ben stands near the Houses of Parliament. It is one of the most famous clocks in the world.
