4 5 Minutes of Editing Who does NOT have their rough draft? Pass paper back once 1.Select one full page and check for figurative language. 2.Highlight/circle where you find the FL being used and comment on its effectiveness. 3.If there isn’t any: Make a note to the author.

5 5 Minutes of Editing Swap paper with SP 1.Edit dialogue. 2.Is it being used? Not enough? Too much? 3.Is punctuation correct? 4.Is author taking a dialogue risk? Trying something different? (Think back to blue handout)

6 5 Minutes of Editing Pass forward once. 1.Select a full page and edit paragraphing. 2.New idea, scene, character, dialogue, emphasis, and etc… 3.Make notes and comments for author.

7 5 Minutes of Editing Pass once to the left 1.Edit MLA format. 2.Look at the example. 3.Make detailed notes.

8 5 Minutes of Editing Pass back once. 1.Edit for sentence fluency/awkwardness. 2.Read one full page. 3.Does it make sense? Is it difficult to understand what they’re writing about? Make notes in margin. 4.Do sentences flow together, making it easy to read? 5.Are there too many short and choppy sentences? Or, too many long and detailed sentences? Make a note if sentence length variation is needed.
