Based On your Red v. Blue Quiz results… Write down your typology on a notecard and turn it into the teacher – while waiting for your group assignment answer the following questions: What is a third party? Why could they be important to US Politics? In your own words describe the following: Liberal Moderate Conservative

Your task… Create your own political party to run in the next presidential election against the Republican and Democratic candidates EACH GROUP WILL: develop a party platform (must include 5 issues) create a party website design a party symbol create a campaign ad write a campaign speech create a bumper sticker, or campaign button. Groups will present their new party to the class and the class then votes for the party they think best represent the most viable third party.

What type of political party? Each group decides which type of party they will develop Single-issue group: Political support is focused based on one policy issue (i.e. gun rights, abortion rights, etc.). Ideological group: A group that forms uniform sentiments, attitudes, and ideas. Splinter group: A number of members of an organization (i.e. political party) who break away from the main body and form an independent association, often due to some type of dissension.
