A WALK IN THE PARK Nparks learning journey BY: Sanjith, Jitesh, Bharath, Audi Group: SR11 HORT PARK

The Environment There The trail, which consisted of a long walk in the park, led us on a track to see many fauna and flora. These are natural as they are in a human made ‘natural’ habitat. There was a wide variety of plants and animals there. The place there was shrouded by trees and shrubs, but hidden among those are animals of varying size and shape. There was a wide variety of plants and animals there. The place there was shrouded by trees and shrubs, but hidden among those are animals of varying size and shape.

The Flora In many shapes and sizes, the park there was ‘crawling’ with flora. The breathtaking views of colourful flowers and tall trees are amazing. From trees which are 20 feet tall to creepers a few feet long, and the vast quantity of plants from all around the world, the Hort Park is a must-to-be-visited place for plant lovers.

The Fauna From tiny little caterpillars and ants to monkeys and birds, the Hort Park is an animal wonder. The rich animal population provides a balance between fauna and flora. This maintains the ecosystem and is one step Singapore has done to be green and protect our flora and fauna heritage.

What’s happening to the wildlife? We humans, have ruled over other plants and animals although we are a fraction of their population for over a million years. And in this period of time, we have polluted, destroyed, killed, unbalanced, decreased the life span and population of the only planetary body in the universe that we have discovered that has thus far sustained life. We humans, have ruled over other plants and animals although we are a fraction of their population for over a million years. And in this period of time, we have polluted, destroyed, killed, unbalanced, decreased the life span and population of the only planetary body in the universe that we have discovered that has thus far sustained life. Remember, there is only one planet. If we continue to destroy it, we are also destroying our one and only chance of survival.

What we can do To survive, we must… 1.R educe carbon release(e.g. Use less electricity) 2.R euse, reduce and recycle(e.g. Recycle paper) 3.S top polluting(e.g. throwing litter and oil into rivers) 4.B e more conscious of our responsibilities to help protect the planet. If all other organisms on Earth can work together to protect planet Earth, why can’t we?
