Thesis This paper will argue that advertisements in publications appealing to men are developed through the individual (what a man looks like), the setting (where a man exists), and the copy (what defines a man).

People Are there people present in the ads? Why or why not are there people in the ad? Are there only men, only women, or both? How does it pertain to masculinity?

Setting Where is it set? Is it outdoors? Is it isolated? What are the surroundings like? Does it pertain to masculinity?

Masculinity? Is there masculinity present in the majority of the ads in a male viewed magazine. In what cases does the people and setting in an ad produce a masculine ad.
