Key Terms to Know! Experiment - A situation or test you set up and observe results Interval - A set of numbers that includes all numbers between the two numbers listed ex) 1-5 includes 1,2,3,4 and 5 - open ended – Interval starts from a number and goes to infinity - ex) 3 and up on board games - Closed interval – Interval is between two #s - Primary/Elementary K-6 Trial - Each time you do an experiment - ex) Trial 1, 2, 3 etc. - Trial-and-error

When Do We Use Experiments? Comparing two products/things - ex) Laundry Detergents – A vs B To gather information and a trial must be done in order to get results - ex) Of the choices you HEARD, what music do you like best?

Experiment!!! Station 1: - Roll a die 25 times, record how many times each number is landed on Station 2: - Flip a coin 25 times, record how many times you get heads or tails Record your data in a TALLY!!!

Think, Think, THINK!!! Station 1: - How many times would you expect to roll a double number? Station 2: - How many times would you expect TAILS to show up?

Bar Graph - Comparing many different things Double-Bar Graph - Comparing TWO specific things - ex) Males vs Females Pictographs - Great for visual comparisons - ex) Comparing ways to cook eggs – Draw eggs Venn Diagrams - Show how two things are similar and different
