How do we know if a country is developed? - More roads, railways, airports (transport) -Clean water -Electricity -Sanitation -A place to live -More doctors and nurses -More medicines and hospitals -More teachers, schools and universities -More jobs All of these things help make places better for people to live.

Indicators of development Economic development... is a measure of a country's wealth and how it is created Human development... is a measure of a country's standard of living and its quality of life

Economic development... GDP, (per capita (PPP)) Gross Domestic Product It is the total value of goods and services produced by a country in a year.

Human Development... Life expectancy - the average age to which a person lives Infant mortality rate - counts the number of babies, per 1000 live births, who die under the age of one. Literacy rate - is the percentage of adults who can read and write. Access to healthcare - how many doctors there are for every patient
